It sounds to me like something went wrong during the install,
did you get any errors during installation? And did you install
to a directory where you had sufficient write permissions? If
the extensions menu items aren't working, then most likely something
caused your installation to abort part of the way through, which
would also explain the missing binaries for stride etc..
