Thanks for the quick answer.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I set the environment variable
VMDPREFERSTEREO=1 and export VMDPREFERSTEREO as described in the VMD in
notes.

The crystal eyes were working when I was using Debian etch, but since the
update to lenny.... it does not work anymore. The GPU is a NVIDIA Quadro FX
4600. This should be powerful enough.
