I would like to include some statistics capabilities for a VMD plug-in that
I'm developing.

Tcl has a statistics library that provides way more than what I need.
However this lib appears to be part of the Tcl standard lib.

Is it a good idea to include this in my plug-in?

To ensure usability would this lib have to be included w/ VMD distributions.

package require math::statistics 0.5
would the be all I need for my plug-in.

Let me know of other alternatives (python libraries?)
