Dear Ioana,
  Do you have the NetPBM package installed on your SGI machine and
in your path somewhere? The VMD movie maker plugin requires the use
of NetPBM to perform various image format conversions and other processing.
The error you got leads me to believe that you're missing the NetPBM tools.
