Hi john,
Thank you for your help,
when i type vmd -dispdev text
i get > /usr/local/lib/vmd/vmd_LINUX: Command not found.

I also tried >sudo yum install libstdc++-4.1.2-33.i386
and i got
Setting up Install Process
Parsing package install arguments
Package libstdc++-4.1.2-33.i386 already installed and latest version
Nothing to do

Is it possible that i did not install vmd correctly?

I went to the /usr/local/lib/vmd/ directory and these are the files i found
Announcement plugins shaders tachyon_LINUXAMD64
doc README stride_LINUXAMD64 vmd_LINUXAMD64
LICENSE scripts surf_LINUXAMD64
