On the one hand, you can get newer versions of the most plugins from here:

        http://www.ks.uiuc.edu/Research/vmd/plugins/186update1/

There, you will also find installation instructions.

Furthermore, I will send you the newest version of the plugin off the
list. To install the plugin, unpack it into the directory <DIR> and put
the lines

        source <DIR>/pkgIndex.tcl
        package require pbctools

into your .vmdrc.
