Dear Keith,
When you run the vmd171.exe program, you should get a small
window produced by the Winzip self-extracting archive. This window
has three buttons: "setup", "cancel", and "about". I assume that at
this point, you selected the "setup" button, and saw the initial
VMD installshield spash screen, and then it hung? We're running
Win2K on several boxes, and I'm running on my machine at home, but
I haven't run into this problem before. The existence of an error
message would depend on Installshield, which I have very little
control over. If you can provide me with more details, I can probably
help you get this working. Alternately, I'll give you a zip file
containing a non-self-extracting version of the installer, and you
can try that and let me know if it works. Let me know if you want
to try that out.

Thanks,
  John Stone
