Functional oligomers of rhodopsin - a G protein-coupled receptor template
Proceedings of the Joint Meeting on Medicinal Chemistry, 5-10, 2005

Recent biochemical and biophysical studies indicated that many of G protein coupled receptors exist as homo- and heterodimers and that their oligomeric assemblies may also have specific functional roles. The aim of this study was to demonstrate the influence of oligomeric structure on binding G protein and arrestin, the two key proteins that are responsible for activation and deactivation processes involving GPCRs, respectively. Complexes of these two proteins with rhodopsin in oligomeric form were created and subjected to optimization and simulation procedures.
