The combined quantum mechanical - molecular mechanical (QM/MM) method is used to characterize the equilibrium geometry configurations and the corresponding energies of the reagents and products of the hydrolysis reactions of the cyclic guanosine monophosphate (c-GMP) and dimeric guanosine monophosphate (c-di-GMP) in aqueous solutions.
