Abstract
DNA is a prototypical multiscalar system in life.On the one hand, DNA act son the single base level, i.e., on the Angstrom scale, while in chromosomes millimetres long DNA organizes itself. Local DNA deformations, like the BI/BII transition, happen on a picosecond time scale, while like chromatine reformation require days to complete. This lecture will summarize recent theoretical approaches dealing with multiscale DNA systems from high level QM studies of hydrogen bonding interaction in duplex DNA, to bioinformatic investigations of gene expression and its regulation.
