TCB Publications - Abstract

Klaus Schulten. An isomerization model for the photocycle of bacteriorhodopsin. In S. R. Caplan and M. Ginzburg, editors, Energetics and Structure of Halophilic Organisms, pp. 331-334. Elsevier, 1978.

SCHU78B On the basis of a recent study $^{2}$ of the isomerization potentials of the protonated and unprotonated Schiff base of retinal and of the observation of a 13-cis intermediate $^{3}$, a complete conformational assignment of the intermediates in the light-adapted and the dark-adapted photocycle of bacteriorhodopsin is presented.
