If you haven't already experienced them, Susana and I would like to introduce
you to our tango instructors Fred and Yermen Romero, who will be coming to
Champaign-Urbana this coming Saturday Sept 14, as well the second Saturday of
    October and November.

Excellent tango instructors are recognized by the impact they have on the
students they teach. In Chicago, Fred and Yermen Romero are recognized for
having taught many (perhaps most) of the best dancers in the city, some of
whom have gone on to become tango instructors themselves. Their teaching is
clear, focused and direct. The present a manageable amount of material in
their classes and workshops, provide the understanding of technique necessary
for effective execution of steps, all within a friendly playful atmosphere
that is conducive to maximizing retention of learned material.

Fred and Yermen's expertise is based upon 8 years of experience teaching
weekly classes at the beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. They have
also toured widely in the Midwest, giving tango workshops that have been well
received wherever they go. Their tango expertise comes in part from extensive
studies with such Argentine masters as Carlos Gavito and Marcela Duran, Nito
and Elba Garcia, and Osvaldo Zotto, but mainly through their own hard work
    and dedication.

During their visits to Champaign-Urbana in the winter and spring of this
year, Fred and Yermen were popular with the students who took their
workshops. Many have asked when they were returning. Well, they will be
returning to Champaign-Urbana 3 times this Fall, the first visit being this
coming Saturday September 14, and thereafter on the second Saturday of
October and November. Our town is blessed to have teachers of this high level
of expertise provide repeated input through teaching. This continuity will
    enhance learning.

Susana and I have been studying tango with Fred and Yermen for a little more
than a year. The repeated caring instruction we have received from them has
been the primary factor responsible for the exponential growth we've
    experienced during that time.

If you have taken workshops with Fred and Yermen before, you recognize the
quality of their teaching. If you haven't taken a workshop with them, you
need to give them a try. You will not regret that decision.

The schedule for Saturday Set 15 is as follows:

    (1) 5:00 - 6:30 PM: Men's / Women's Tango Workshops

Tango is an improvised dance, with an infinite variety of step sequences,
based on small elements. This requires alertness on the part of the woman and
effective leading on the part of the man. In this workshop you will learn
general techniques for improving leading and following, partner communication
and adornment within the context of connection to the music.

    ALL LEVELS

    (2) 6:45 - 8:15 PM: Salon Style Tango

This is the popular elegant style of tango that arose in Buenos Aires during
the 1940s, the Golden Age of Tango, and is the foundation from which stage
tango evolved. This workshop will concentrate on building patterns within the
context of navigation around the dance floor, stressing techniques of leading
and following, as well as showing opportunities for building an improvised
dance while providing expression to the music.

    INTERMEDIATE / ADVANCED LEVEL

Location: Phillips Recreation Center, 505 W Stoughton, Urbana

    Cost: 1 Workshop: $20 (Students: $15) 2 Workshops: $35 (Students:
    $25)

at $50./ hr for singles or couples, $60 / hr for 2 couples.

We hope to see you at the workshops.

    Ron & Susana
