First let me state that planning a contest needs more than a week. In this case
help from everyone will be appreciated so anyone who can chip in, please do.

The problem with swing contests is that the title "swing" is ambiguous. Under
this catagory lies jive, east coast, lindy, shag, etc.. Let's say a dancer from
competitions such as the DI inviational enters his/her conception of the
"requirements" is different from someone who has been in the American Lindy Hop
championshops. I suggest a panel made up of DI and Swing Society people for
fairness. As for winners are there prizes? There needs to be more planning than
a "amateur and open dance" section. I suggest contact with the DI on criteria
for judging. i.e. Rating systems, lists, etc. Also, judging during a live
performance can be a hassle for the band and the crowd. Keep the pauses between
songs at a minimum.

Also, on a side note let's get started on Quad day. Anyone with any information
please send it to me and I will start coordinating everything. I know we have a
spot but we need to develop flyers and think about demos, etc. Thanks.

Swing on!
