Actually, this brings up a good point: it's very rare that anyone
bothers to thank the officers for all their hard work.
I spent two years as a DI officer, first as education chair and then
as president. Though I managed to make only three genuine enemies
during that time -- all of whom were upset that I wouldn't bend the
rules for their benefit -- at the end of it, aside from the other
officers, faculty advisors and David Lin, exactly two people thanked
me, neither of them students.
It's true that my main source of satisfaction was seeing people at
club events having a good time dancing. But I think it would have
helped a *lot* to have people tell me, from time to time, that I was
doing a good job.
So please, folks, take a moment to send a private note joining us in
thanking the hardworking officers of the Dancing Illini for all they've
done. And let's tell them how much we enjoyed the events they put
together.
It *really* helps keep the club running smoothly, if the volunteers
know that their volunteering is appreciated.
