I just want to say a hearty thank you to Andrew for arranging to teach
his practice quickie at 9:30 rather than at 10:00.

As those of you who came to practice last week already know, this approach
has the advantage of attracting new people -- the ones who haven't come to
practice before -- to come to practice on time, rather than halfway
through, and to stay for actual practice dancing after the quickie. That
way, they get to see what practice is like and how great it really is, so
that the next time, they come back to practice for its own sake, not just
for the free lesson.

I also want to thank Andrew for teaching material that complements what
people are currently learning, the very people who the club most needs to
come to practice, but who haven't picked up the habit yet. With Intmd 1
teaching int'l rumba and Intmd 2 teaching int'l cha cha, everyone in the
club's (post-beginner) classes will have something to gain from this
quickie -- and many people will find it useful for *both* classes.

Last week we had some three dozen people at practice, and about twenty of
them stayed all the way until 11:00. In fact, I had to shoo them out the
door around 11:15, when David Lin came by to close up. Even when people
weren't dancing -- and I was the only man on the floor for the Viennese
waltz (8-) -- they were socializing, shmoozing and having a good time.

We know this method works -- let's keep doing it!
