A small group of us went to the Fanmarker club in Rantoul this weekend,
and I just wanted to say that we had a great time, and the Fanmarker is
fantastic!
Their ballroom is a large room separate from the bar and dining areas,
with a fairly good-sized hardwood floor surrounded by tables. There
is a wait staff, to bring you drinks and (also food from the kitchen
early in the evening). Although smoking is allowed, the room never did get
noticably smoky. (plus the band was awesome!)
In addition to the ballroom, the Fanmarker has a retaurant that is open
until 9pm, and a bar area with a jukebox and another small dance floor.
This is a classy place, with a wonderful dance space and a reasonably
priced menu. I would not hesitate to recommend an evening of dinner and
dancing. If you plan on going, please note that the directions shown
below are changed slightly from those origionally posted. The Fanmarker
will be presenting live entertainment on the following dates in late
August/ early Sept:

Directions: Take HWY 45 north out of C-U. at the southernmost limits of
Rantoul, turn east onto Chandler (there's a stoplight at this corner).
Turn north onto Century, and turn west onto Frost street. Look for the
sign. (the club is located on the old base).
