Monday, March 2nd at 9:45, Freer Gym (after Beginner Class).

Hi again :)

I would like to announce that there will be a DanceSport informational
meeting next Monday (March 2) after the beginner class (around 9:45 or
10:00pm) for anyone interested in finding out more information about
DanceSport and/or competitions.

As many of you have seen, I was toting around the Case Western Reserve
University "Ballroom Blitz" Team Match trophy to classes and practices
last week. Although the Dancing Illini is primarily a social dance club,
we also encourage our members to compete. To help prepare our members
for competitions, we support a DanceSport Team.

DanceSport is the recognized term for competitive ballroom dancing and is
officially recognized by the Olympic Committee (I believe it will be an
exhibition event at the 2000 Summer Olympics).

Our DanceSport Team is not just about competitions. It is primarly geared
toward helping people improve their ballroom dancing.

If you have any interest, please stay after class or come to Freer Gym
around 9:45pm on Monday, March 2nd.

Thank you for your time,
Cory Tsang

ps- If you really enjoy ballroom dancing but have a hard time figuring out
when you'll ever use it, college ballroom dance competitions are the best
for social ballroom dancing. It is what draws me to competitions. It is
an amazing feeling when you realize that you're not the only one who knows
how to do this stuff (or like you can only dance with people from your
class or just people at this university). Not only that, but you get to
dance with some amazing dancers...they have been practicing to compete,
haven't they? :)
