Hi everyone,

For the remainder of May, Dancing Illini practices will be held from
9:30-11:00pm at the Regent Ballroom in Savoy. Practice is free to DI
members. The Regent has a huge wood floor, mirrors and a great sound
system for your dancing pleasure :-)

This week Andrew and Lara will present a Cha cha Quickie at 10pm.
Come join us to have fun and learn some cool new moves!

The video librarian will be available from 9:30 to 9:45 to accept video
returns and conduct loans for the upcoming week. Dancing Illini T-Shirts
will also be available at this time.

*** ALERT: Nine new videos have just arrived! ***

The following 4 videos each concentrate on a particular dance.

* Waltz 1 - Mike Haley & Patti Miller

How to make your Waltz smooth and graceful. Fix your bad habits
and prevent them from happening if you are just starting. Many
easy-to-lead beginning moves, yet half the tape is devoted to
intermediate level figures.

* Basic West Coast Swing - Kelly Buckwalter

An excellent tape which also includes technique information on
anchoring and connecting with your partner.

* Intermediate West Coast Swing Syncopations for Men and Women -
Kelly Buckwalter

Spice up your steps with this tape of fancy footwork and
dancing.

* Advanced West Coast Swing Syncopations for Women - Kelly
Buckwalter

Kelly takes her most advanced syncopations and breaks them down in
great detail. Includes her whip with double slide and whippet
lean-out variations.

The remaining 5 videos concentrate on dance skills and technique:

* Spins and Turns - Kelly Buckwalter

Detailed technique of how to spin well, covering many types of
turns. At the end of the tape, some patterns in West Coast Swing
are presented which use the different types of spins and turns.

* Body Isolations - Kelly Buckwalter

Starts simply and progresses to advanced isolations and body
ripples.

* Styling and Technique - Mike Haley & Patti Miller

Dance terminology, foot positions, dance positions, movement
concepts. Covers all the little details that make or break your
dancing.

* Why He Can't Lead & She Can't Follow - Mike Haley & Patti Miller

Figures taken from all dances are used to show what can go wrong
and how to fix it for the man and for the lady.

* Lines, Lines, Lines - Mike Haley & Patti Miller

Dancing is movement between positions where your individual body
parts and your body as a whole should form specific lines and
shapes. Beginning dancers can use this tape for working on shaping
and body lines. Intermediate dancers can use this tape for poses
and hitting breaks. Applicable to all dances.

Videos can be checked out during the first 15 minutes of every practice, and
are due back at the following week's first 15 minutes of practice. You will be
asked for a $2 donation (to help the club purchase future videos) and for a
$20 cash deposit (which will be returned to you when you return the video).
