Summer Workshop Series on MILONGA
At the Phillips Recreation Center
Taught by Ron & Susana
Taking these 3 workshops comprises a mini-course in Milonga, teaching the
essentials of musicality, step combinations, and navigation. Students may
enter the sequence at any point, based on their current level of expertise in
Milonga.
(1) Sat June 7
7:30 - 9:00 PM (a lesson prior to the Milonga)
=> Milonga - I: Foundations of Milonga
- Rhythm and basic steps in milonga, including opportunities for
improvisation.
Cost: $7 (includes admission to the subsequent milonga)
(2) Sat June 28 (2 workshops)
2:00 - 3:30 PM
=> Milonga - II: Alternative Line of Dance Progression
- Learn strategies for step combinations in forward, sideways, and diagonal
line-of-dance progression.
Pre-requisite: Assumes knowledge of Milonga equivalent to content of
'Foundations of Milonga' workshop.
4:00 - 5:30 PM
=> Milonga - III: Improvisation on Progressive Turns
- Learn options for exiting from progressive turns, including varying
line-of-dance orientation.
Pre-requisite: Assumes knowledge of Milonga equivalent to content of
'Alternative Line-of-Dance Progression' workshop
Cost (June 28 workshops):
$8 for 1 workshop / $15 for both workshops
