Over the next few weeks the Tango Society of Central Illinois and the Urbana
Park District offer you many opportunities to begin (or renew) your
indulgence in tango:

All activities are at the Phillips Recreation Center: Springfield &
McCullough, Urbana.
=> FOR THOSE WITH LIMITED OR NO TANGO EXPERIENCE:
(1) INTRODUCTORY TANGO WORKSHOPS
Dance performances by Tango Society instructors and students, followed by an
introductory lesson.
Wed Jan 22: 8:15 - 10:15 PM, or
Fri Jan 24: 8:00 - 10:00 PM
Cost: $7
(2) FUNDAMENTALS OF ARGENTINE TANGO
- 8 wks, 12 hrs: a thorough introduction to tango, including the cross,
forward and back ochos, turns for changes of direction, paradas. Pattern
building using these elements and sucessful leading and following will be
emphasized.
Wed Jan 29 - Mar 19: 8:30 - 10:00 PM
Cost: $36
=> FOR THOSE COMFORTABLE WITH DANCING TANGO SOCIALLY
(or talented ballroom and other social dancers who learn new dances rapidly)
(3) INTERMEDIATE ARGENTINE TANGO [TOPIC: MUSICALITY]
- Use basic tango steps (most of those taught in Fundamentals course) in
different forms, adapted to 4 different tango rhythms (salon tango, tango
milonguero, milonga, vals), plus additional steps that are different but
functionally equivalent across tango styles. Be able to dance appropriately
to every tango song.
