Reminder: On Sat Oct 12, Fred & Yermen Romero, popular tango instructors from
Chicago, will return on their monthly visits to Champaign-Urbana, to provide
    expert tango instruction.

    There will be 2 workshops:

    5:00 - 6:30 PM: Salon style tango

This is the popular elegant style of tango that arose in Buenos Aires during
the 1940s, the Golden Age of Tango, and is the foundation from which stage
tango evolved. This workshop will present several intermediate to advanced
level steps within the standard tango repertoire, with a concentration on
technique for effective leading and following, the use of adornments, and
    musicality.

    6:45 - 8:15 PM: Vals

This workshop will explore the unique rhythmic character of the tango waltz,
with a focus on adapting standard tango steps to match the syncopation
    possibilities of the vals rhythm.

Pre-requisite: Successful completion of a beginner level tango course, or the

    equivalent skills.

    Cost: $20 ($15 for students) for 1, $35 ($25 for students) for 2 workshops

Location: Phillips Recreation Center, 505 W Stoughton, Urbana

    ============================

If you haven't already experienced them, Susana and I would like to introduce
you to our tango instructors Fred and Yermen Romero, who will be returning to
Champaign-Urbana this coming Saturday Oct 12, as well the second Saturday of
    November.

Excellent tango instructors are recognized by the impact they have on the
students they teach. In Chicago, Fred and Yermen Romero are recognized for
having taught many (perhaps most) of the best dancers in the city, some of
whom have gone on to become tango instructors themselves. Their teaching is
clear, focused and direct. They present a manageable amount of material in
their classes and workshops, thus maximizing retention of taught material.
Their teaching style is well-grounded in focusing on the basic tango
principles of leading and following that result in effective partner
connection and improved dancing skills and enjoyment. All of this is done
within a friendly playful supportive atmosphere.

Fred and Yermen's expertise is based upon 8 years of experience teaching
weekly classes at the beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. They have
also toured widely in the Midwest, giving tango workshops that have been well
received wherever they go. Their tango expertise comes in part from extensive
studies with such Argentine masters as Carlos Gavito and Marcela Duran, Nito
and Elba Garcia, and Osvaldo Zotto, but mainly through their own hard work
    and dedication.

In their 6 previous visits to Champaign-Urbana in the past year, Fred and
Yermen have been popular with the students who took their workshops. With
each visit they introduce their effective teaching style to new students, and
we hear much praise from them after the workshops. Our town is blessed to
have teachers of this high level of expertise provide repeated input through
teaching. This continuity of effort will enhance learning.

If you have taken workshops with Fred and Yermen before, you recognize the
quality of their teaching. If you haven't taken a workshop with them, you
need to give them a try. You will not regret that decision.

    Ron and Susana
