Do you remember what got you excited about dancing tango when you first saw
it? It was probably the decorations that spiced up the dance, to make it so
different from other social dances.
So you've been dancing tango for a while and you're still looking to add that
spicy decoration to your own dancing. Well, now there is a tango course that
will focus specifically on the adornments of tango.
Intermediate Tango (aka 'Tango Spice')
Wednesdays Sept 4 - Oct 9 (6 weeks)
Phillips Recreation Center
Time: 8:30 - 10 PM
Cost: $36 (for 9 hrs instruction)
Pre-register by calling: 367-1544.
Susana and I will bring you on a journey through paradas (stops), ganchos
(hooks), boleos ("kicks"), arrastres (drags), sacadas (displacements),
calesitas (Merry-go-rounds), and other adornments in tango. Not only will we
discuss the techniques for successful execution of these steps, but we will
also give numerous variations and examples of where these adornments can be
placed in sequences of walking, ochos, and turns, to help you build your
improvisational skills.
You'll have a lot of fun adding these spicy elements to your dancing so join
us starting this Wednesday at 8:30 PM at Phillips.
