There is a chance that Michele and I will compete in the Dancing
Illini's next competition in October. It all depends on several factors:
(1) The completion of the Green Street streetscape reconstruction project
(2) Michele's G-1 visa status
(3) Whether or not Michele has accomodations for the time up to the
competition and also how busy Michele is up to the day of the
competition
In other news....
You might have not seen us dancing at the Regent for some time. Here's
why: we are taking time out of dancing at the Regent to get ready for the
upcoming Chicago Crystal Ball dance competition. I know that this is no
collegiate competition like the DI and it can be cut-throat, but it will
still be very exciting for us. We don't even have to fly or take the train
because it is just on our doorstep (I am a Chicago native). The
competition will take place at the Chicago O'Hare Marriott in Rosemont.
The whole thing, like other contests, falls on the weekend (6/14-6/16). I
am doing all of the teaching and practice on Michele for this big contest.
We will compete in three categories: 5-dance International Latin, 5-dance
US Rhythm (both amateur events) and a separate Open Salsa category. More
on this can be seen on http://www.chicagocrystalball.com.
Perhaps the several ribbons we got
in the Notre Dame competition in April was the inspiration for us to
experience a real competition that almost resembles the OSB. Even if we do
get eliminated in the preliminary rounds, we might still be photographed
as a couple on the competition's website, so try to look for it.
Thanks,
Charles and Michele
