The namd mailing list is on the web, therefore a search in google will give you hits from the mailing list. There is also a search tool on the namd mailing list website:

http://www.ks.uiuc.edu/Research/namd/mailing_list/

Finally, area per lipid is the area per lipid, cad the total area divided by the number of lipids. The total area is given by the periodic boundaries. Of course if you have a protein in there or a mixture of lipids, it becomes more complicated. Then you'll probably need to do a tesselation or something like this.
