Difference between cwd and cd

Dear all,

I'm just wondering what the difference between cd and cwd in the namd
configuration file is?

Actually cwd does not seem to work correctly, as commands like source don't
notice the directory set by cwd. But using cd works as expected (for
sourcing tcl files and for input/output files). Is this by design?
