Can anyone tell if SMD force sign depends on a direction ? Does it mean that having negative forces I have attraction of molecule toward pulling directions ?

I'm learning NAMD and SMD. I did some test run puling my molecule to some surface with constant velocity in -Z direction. How to interpret the sign of force that is recorder in SMD output ?
