Dear Julie,

If you are using mandriva, for example, using a terminal, type:

urmpi libstdc++.so.5

the urpmi program will download and install the missing package. If you
are using other OS, you will have to locate the RPM file, or whatever is
the package for your OS, and install it by hand. In a Red Hat flavor you
do it using the rpm program.
