You can install both v7 and v8 on the same system, just in different places.
This can keep everyone happy if you set the default path to find v8 and then
only those who know the magic runes can access the v7 ones.
This won't solve any political issues if it has been decreed from above that
thou shalt only use v8 of course. :-(
