G5 or P4 cluster

Hi,

I was wondering what experience people have with G5s. Would a cluster of
dual G5s be faster/slower than single P4s?
Do dual processors provide much speedup due to faster communication?

It's gonna be a small cluster 8-16 P4s or 3-8 G5s.
Both would use gigabit ethernet.
