Cowboy Monkey Salsa - Wednesday (11:00-)
Try out your new Salsa cross-body leads at Cowboy Monkey, hang out, and
watch or dance with more experienced Salsa dancers in town. No cover. Look
for John, he'll be wearing the red Dancing Illini polo shirt.
Practice - Thursday (6:00-7:30)
For those of you who missed class last Sunday, practice is a great place to
get caught up. Practice resumes this Thursday at the LDS Institute (402 S.
Lincoln Ave., Urbana). We will review the new Salsa and Cha Cha steps from
last Sunday as needed and West Coast Swing for the Swing Class. We will
also play some random songs so you get a chance to review all six dances
you've learned so far. Waltz and Swing will be up next on Sunday, this will
give you a chance to try to remember what those were.
Class - Sunday
Come early to class, I'll play some Salsa or Cha Cha for warm up or
anything else that is requested.
SAVE THE DATE - 11/15
At the end of our dance course, we always have "Graduation Party" for our
students. We'll take you out to dinner, which has traditionally been
Rosati's, and then off to the Regent, so you'll get a chance to see how far
you've gotten. Dinner will be on us to congratulate your completion of the
course and if you have at least 8 stamps on your attendance cards, we'll
give you a $5 discount for the Regent for that night.
(Note: because of the timing of Fall Break and Finals, the last class is
actually 11/17, we decided to hold the Graduation Party before the last
class, which is why the last class is not listed on your attendance cards)
Next Semester
Classes
Some of you have been asking about next semester, this is what we have
planned so far:
5:00-6:15 Intermediate Social Ballroom (Jim & Jennifer)
6:30-7:30 Bonus Dance (Ron & Janice)
7:45-9:15 Beginner Social Ballroom (Jeff & En-Chi)
Social Ballroom = Nightclub Two Step, Salsa, Cha Cha, Waltz, Swing
Bonus Dance = Hustle, West Coast Swing
(Times are subject to change, but they're in the right ballpark)
For those of you who are in the Beginner Social Dancing class now, if you
take the Intermediate class, all the other class will be free to you. For
those of you who are in the Swing Trio class and would like the start the
Social Dance course, the Bonus Dance will also be free for you.
Social Dances
Starting from next semester, Dancing Illini will be holding our own social
dances on campus. The first one will be a Welcome Back Dance that is
tentatively set on 1/30. Keep an eye out for more information.
