Minutes of Officer's Meeting, December 2nd, 2001.

The officers' meeting was held on the premises of 1007 W. Clark #1, Urbana
at 6pm, December 2nd as scheduled by the president. The president was
unable to host the meeting as planned, and remained inside.

Officers present: Lynn (Vice President), Jeremy (Treasurer), Jeffrey
(Secretary), Janice (Ceaching Chair), Tanja (Competition Chair), Mike
(Workshop Chair), Jim (Education Chair), Ron (Public Relations Chair)

Officers absent: Emily (co-social chair), Sonja (co-social chair), Lisa
(co-social chair) and Alex (president)

A request was made to remove the President, Aleksandar Ivonovic, from
office.

A petition of grievances was submitted in support of the motion. The
secretary accepted the petition into the records (meaning that I attached
it to the end of this e-mail).

After referring to the constitution, it was decided that no vote would be
required to begin the process of removal and that the general vote would
occur automatically at the next scheduled meeting.

"At any Dancing Illini meeting, any member may request that any officer be
removed from office. At the next meeting, the first order of business
shall be the discussion of the recall, where the officer will be allowed
to present a defense. Then a roll call vote or secret ballot of all voting
members present shall be taken. If a two-thirds majority of the voting
members votes to remove the officer, then the officer shall vacate his or
her position immediately."

The officers voted 8 - 0 to support the wording of the petition.

A motion was made to move the meeting to a warmer location. The motion was
approved 8 - 0.

The President was informed that the meeting was moving to the inside of
Janice's house and was asked to attend, but was unable to do so.

At 6:30 pm, the meeting was temporarily recessed.

At 6:45 pm, the meeting was reconvened at Janice's house.

In the absence of the president, the vice president ran the meeting as per
the Dancing Illini Constitution:
"The Vice President shall assume the powers and responsibilities of the
President in the event of the President's absence or incapacity."

It was confirmed that the next General Meeting should be held at 10:30
during the December 8th dance in Illini Union Room 314 as originally
scheduled by the President.

It was decided that the vote to remove the President should be conducted
by secret ballot and that the eligibility of voting members should be
strictly verified. The Secretary was assigned to find the list of eligible
members and to bring it to the meeting.

A motion was made that, as the General Meeting would involve a debate and
vote on the removal of the president, a different agent should be
delegated to moderate. The officers voted 8 - 0 that Lynn should moderate
the meeting.

It was agreed that an explanatory letter should be sent to the membership
before the meeting.

A motion was made to provide the President the opportunity of an
equivalent letter to the membership. The motion was approved. The
Secretary volunteered to supervise the fair administration of the e-mail
lists, as per his constitutional duties.

Proposals to improve dancing classes, expand the number of social
activities and to increase member interest in the club were discussed in
detail, however it was agreed that no official actions should be taken
until the current political difficulties were resolved.

The meeting was adjourned at approximately 9pm.

The above are the official minutes of the Dancing Illini Officers' meeting
of December 2nd, 2001.

Jeffrey Tran
Secretary
Dancing Illini

The following is the petition presented for the removal of Aleksandar
Ivonovic from the office of president:

Whereas Aleksandar Ivonovic, President of the Dancing Illini, is unfit for
his office for the reasons described hereinafter,

Whereas Aleksandar Ivonovic has willfully jeopardized the Dancing Illinis
continued operation and has threatened to do so again,

Whereas Aleksandar Ivonovic is unable and/or unwilling to work with the
other elected officers and chairs of the Dancing Illini,

Whereas Aleksandar Ivonovic has on more than one occasion acted against
the best interests of the Dancing Illini,

And Whereas Aleksandar Ivonovic has refused to resign when given the
opportunity to do so,

Therefore, let it be

Resolved: That Aleksandar Ivonovic be recalled from his position as
President of the Dancing Illini, effective immediately upon approval of
this resolution by the requisite two-thirds of the members present at a
properly scheduled General Meeting of the Dancing Illini.

In presenting this Resolution, I feel it is useful to be more specific as
to the details of Aleksandars offenses. This itemization will probably
not be complete, but it will serve to illustrate my reasons for requesting
the adoption of this Resolution.

I. During the last week of the most recent session of classes,
Aleksandar caused the Dancing Illini to be encumbered by the University.
During the period that the Dancing Illini was encumbered, no space for
future events could be approved and the Dancing Illini could not obtain
reimbursement for expenses from our account with the University.
II. At a meeting of the officers and chairs of the Dancing Illini that
week, it was voted unanimously that Janice Mouschovias would be sent to
Registered Student Organizations (RSO) as the clubs sole agent in clearing
the encumbrance. (It was felt that Janices personal contacts with RSO
would be of benefit to the clubs case, but only if she was unaccompanied.)
Despite voting in favor of this resolution, Aleksandar first attempted to
convince Janice to take him along with her, and then intruded on the
meeting while it was in progress.
III. Aleksandar has made a pattern of going against club decisions,
even those made with his participation.
IV. Aleksandar has misinterpreted University and Dancing Illini rules
in a Pharisaical, even Humpty-Dumptian manner in order to force his
policies on the club. While doing so, he has at whim disregarded standing
club policy and the wishes of the other officers and chairs of the Dancing
Illini.
V. Aleksandar has attempted to arbitrarily remove duly elected
chairpersons of the Dancing Illini (namely Tanja Hodges, Competition
Chair; and Lisa Hoppe, co-Social Chair) without due process based on a
flawed interpretation of University rules.
VI. Aleksandar has threatened to again cause the club to be encumbered
unless the club goes along with his demands.
VII. When it became apparent that his policies would not be enacted,
Aleksandar attempted to cancel a scheduled officers meeting, ignoring
other issues that needed to be addressed.
VIII. Aleksandar has on more than one occasion withheld information,
impeding the clubs functioning.
