Swing update

Hey kids,

For those who've tried to access the swing web page and were denied, it
appears the folks at the Computational Engineering Group decided to
change web servers without telling me. So until I get some privileges
on their new server, you'll find the web page at
http://www.students.uiuc.edu/~guinney/swing.html

If you were at Legends early enough last night, you may have gotten a
Channel 3 film camera in your face. They're doing a feature story on
the revival of swing, particularly in Urbana-Champaign (and even more
particularly - at Legends). This will air on 9:30 am this Sunday. So
everyone's going to wake up early and watch it, right?...maybe you
should just tape it.

Two reminders:

- Lavay Smith and the Red Hot Skillet Lickers are playing this Thursday
(that's tomorrow) at the Blind Pig. Let me repeat "THIS IS ONE OF MY
FAVORITE JUMP BLUES AND SWING BANDS", and they're from my home town of
San Fran. I still don't know what they're doing in CU, but since they
are, take advantage of it.

- Beckman Quad Swing #2. Stroll out to the grass in front of Beckman
for a night of swinging under the stars. Most people agree, this is the
best thing going since sliced bread, and I even hear we may have some
coolers of water donated by the people at CRU. Things will start
rolling about 9:00pm, and continue until (a) the wee early morning or
(b) campus police decide that we're a lawsuit hazard and need to leave.
We weren't broken up last time; maybe we'll get lucky again. In the
event of rain, we'll reschedule for the following Sat. I'll notify by
email.

-justin

P.S. Many of you have inquired about swing lessons next fall. I will
be teaching 2 classes, beginner and intermediate lindy hop. Right now,
I do not have a space confirmed, so as soon as I know, you will know.
