Hey everyone,

There's a non-alcoholic country-western dance club only 15 minutes from the
Regent. I went to check it out this Friday night and here's my report:

Double J Boot Scooters
119 E. Washington (2nd floor, above Debbie's dance studio)
Monticello, IL
762-5217

Jeff Wells (the owner) teaches inexpensive dance lessons:

Tuesday Sunday

Beginner 7-8pm 5-6pm $5 per per person per week
Intermediate 8-9pm 6-7pm $5 per per person per week
Advanced 9-10pm 7-8pm $2 per per person per night

A DJ plays today's popular C/W music, and they have a live band once a
month. They are open for social dancing on:

Friday Saturday Sunday

8pm-12am 8pm-12am 8-10pm
$3.00 $3.00 $1.00

On the second Thursday of every month they have a free potluck
dinner/dance; dinner from 7-8pm and dancing from 8-10pm. Just bring a
covered dish or finger food.

They have a snack and beverage bar (no alcohol served). There is a rail
around two sides of the dance floor. The dance floor itself has 4 small
columns in it which effectively divide the floor into areas for stationary
dances (East & West Coast Swing, etc) and travelling dances (Waltz, 2-step,
etc). The place is clean, so bring your dance shoes. Here's an aerial
view:

The floor is bigger than the main floor at Bradley's. With painted brick
walls and an unfinished ceiling, this converted warehouse building doesn't
have the atmosphere of Bradleys or the Regent, but the prices are
inexpensive and the people are all _very_ friendly. Check it out - just
take Neil Street south past the airport and turn right onto Monticello
road. It's one block before you reach the center of Monticello.
