Hi everyone,

At the July 4 picnic, we had a discussion about starting up a formation team.

A formation team is a group of dancers who learn a choreographed dance
routine and give performances. The dances can be ballroom, latin, or
nightclub (Salsa/Swing/Hustle, etc) dances, or even a Jazz dance routine.
You typically spend a few weeks learning the routine, and then a few weeks
honing your dancing skills, so there's something in it for everyone. You
can even get costumes from Krannert.

I spoke to David Lin and Sandy Lampert about coaching a formation team.
Neither of them can do it this summer or fall, so we would have to look
elsewhere for a coach.

Right now, we need someone (or a group of someones) to lead the formation
team effort. The job involves collecting names, finding a coach, working
with the coach to pick music/dances, and scheduling coaching sessions and
practices.

Being a member of a formation team is a lot of fun and you're guaranteed to
make a bunch of close friends. Let me know if you can be a part of it!

Mark
