For all of you out-of-towners who want to compete in the Dancing Illini competition, you will have an extremely tough time finding a hotel or motel room in Champaign-Urbana on the 28th and the 29th of October.

As of the time of this message, hotel rooms were booked to about 115 percent capacity about 3 weeks ago for October 28 and for October 29.

There are only 3400 rooms in the Champaign-Urbana area. The culprit is the thousands of Illini
football fans that will storm Memorial Stadium on the 29th. And guess what---it also falls on
Dad's Day. I expect 50,000 fans to watch the football game. And Dad's Day is the 3rd largest
event in the University of Illinois. No wonder rooms were booked to over 100 percent.

Because of this, you can fill only so many hotel rooms and there is not enough room for all of
you---including the dance competitors who want to compete on the 29th.

As dance competitors, we tried without any success to find a hotel room.

The only option is to reserve a hotel room in Mattoon, Illinois. That is what we are staying in. Why? Even some of the surrounding
towns in C-U, especially that of Savoy and Mahomet, said their rooms were filled to about 100-
112 percent of capacity for the 28th and 29th.

I deeply regret that Champaign-Urbana did not build enough hotels for those very big events.
But you can watch me and my good dancing friend compete on the 29th. And please cheer for us...whether we win or we lose.
