I assume that you downloaded NAMD binary
for Windows from the web site.
Can I assume that you included path to
NAMD in system variables? Can you check the path in command prompt?
I did not bother to do that.
The NAMD2.exe binary is a small file, so I
copy it with every simulation.
(1) I would copy it to some empty
directory and add input files there.
(2) I would start command prompt (cmd) in
Windows7 and change the current directory to that directory.
(3) Run “DIR” to verify that
NAMD is there.
(4) start simulation, e.g.
NAMD2.EXE +p2 input.conf > output.dat
“p2” indicates the number of
processors/threads
input.conf – your input file
output.dat – show results of
simulations
This works for me in Windows XP and Windows
2000 32-bit. However, windows7 has this “UAC” stuff that prevents
much software from running, so power users just run away to Linux….. Do
you get any UAC prompt?

Dear All,
I bought a computer with 64 bit windows 2007 for running NAMD. But, I could not
run NAMD. It says "namd2 is not recognized
as internal or external command...". I have included NAMD in
the system variables too. Does anyone know the solution?. Any help will be
greatly appreciated.
