MEETING NOTES

General Meeting, Wednesday, September 17, 1997, 10pm, Regent

1. Matthew Johnson was appointed Co-Education Chair. He will be organizing
the quickie lessons at the Wednesday practices. If you are interested
in teaching a quickie lesson this semester, please email him at
mpjohns@uiuc.edu. Riki Garvin is also acting as the club's carpool
coordinator. If you need a ride to practice or any other club event,
please email her at egarvin@uiuc.edu.

2. Due to a scheduling mistake on the part of Facilities Management, the
club does not have the anticipated time slots at Freer on Mondays and
Wednesday nights. This impacts the Beginner 1C (Swing/Rumba/Waltz) and
Intermediate 1E (Cha Cha/Hustle) classes. The Beginner 1C class will
still be meeting at Freer on Mondays. However, the class will now be
meeting between 8 and 9:30pm. Cory is currently looking into relocating
the Intermediate 1E class to an alternate location.

3. The competition is coming up on November 8th. Beginners are encouraged
to participate or just watch. There will also be a workshop in Samba
and Tango, given by Kris and Ela Kasperovich, the following day. For
more details about these and other events, check the club's web page
(http://www.uiuc.edu/ro/dancing).

4. Discussion regarding the proposed medal tests were tabled until the
next general meeting.

5. Discussion regarding the Fall 1997 budget was tabled until the the next
general meeting.

6. Nominations are currently being accepted for the position of Vice
President. The duties and responsibilities for this position are
explained on the web page in Article 2 of the club Constitution. If you
are interested in filling this position, email the club officers
(dancing-officers@uiuc.edu).

7. Cory proposed that the club purchase a minidisc player to use during
the competition and to aid in the upkeep of the club's music library.
Justin will add the purchase of a minidisc player to the Fall budget.
