I received word yesterday morning that there is supposed to be an Academic
unit in Freer Gym (rm 310) from 6-8pm on both Mondays and Wednesdays.
Apparently, Academic units request space directly from Facilities
Management who then allocate space, then give a calendar of events to DCR
so that they can grant space requests for clubs. Academic units have top
priority. Well, they forgot to include this Academic unit on the calendar
this semester so we were granted hours which conflicted.
As a result, we are getting booted from Freer between 6-8pm on both
Mondays and Wednesdays.
For those of you in our Monday beginner class (Rumba, Swing, and Waltz
taught by Andrew Tate), this means your class will be shifted to a later
slot from 8:00pm - 9:30pm (a half hour later than the current time frame).
For those of you in our Wednesday intermediate class (Hustle and Cha Cha
taught by Sam & Judy Wright), we are losing the entire slot from
6:15pm to 7:45pm. We currently do not have a replacement time and
location yet. I'm working on that. We have 18 people currently signed up
(WE NEED MORE WOMEN). I'm going to try and keep the class on Wednesday
night.
If you are interested in joining the Wednesday night class, please email
me so I don't get a room that is too small.
Anyway, I apologize for the changes, but they were unavoidable. I'm
hoping that the University will take some action to relocate us since the
error was on the part of Facilities Management.
