The Friday class, Intermediate DanceSport Waltz, Quickstep, and Cha Cha
needs more women! This is an Intermediate level class focusing on
preparation for competition, though students are not required to compete.
Material taught in this class is different than standard school book
figures and are a lot of fun! :)
We are short by about 6 or 7 women and more couples are welcome!
Also, as a reminder, Riki Garvin has offered to handle coordinating
carpools for Dancing Illini events, so you can contact her at
egarvin@uiuc.edu or call her to set something up.
Here is the information about the class again:
Intermediate "DanceSport": Waltz, Quickstep, and Cha Cha, 8 weeks
Date: Fridays, September 5 - October 24
Time: 6:00 - 7:10pm
Cost: $25 for UI Students.
$50 for non-students.
Location: Regent Ballroom in Savoy
Instructor: David Lin
Prerequisites: Must have taken beginner level Waltz and Cha Cha. No
previous Quickstep experience necessary.
Curriculum: Intermediate level Waltz, Quickstep and Cha Cha with a
strong focus on technique and competition styling.
For those who have never taken one of David Lin's classes, he is a
wonderful professional instructor and you will always come away learning
something from his classes. Whether or not you are interested in
competition, David can help you dance better which also lets you have more
fun.
The Regent Ballroom is located at 1406 Regency Drive West, Savoy
(359-5333). From Champaign, take S. Niel St., which becomes U.S. 45, to
Burwash Avenue. (The northwest corner of U.S. 45 and Burwash is Twin City
Honda/BMW; the southwest corner has a gas station.) Turn west onto
Burwash (there is no east), immediately north of the Savoy 14 cinemas,
then drive several blocks to turn south onto Regency Drive West. The
Regent is less than a block south on the east side of Regency Drive West.
We often carpool to get down there, or you can take the MTD Lavender or
Yellow South bus during the daytime.
Also, the class ends approximately 50 minutes before the weekly Friday
night Ballroom dance, so you have enough time to grab some food and come
back to dance some more!
Once again, I strongly encourage anyone who wants to learn more and get
better to take this class.
