(*) Ballroom dance with the Bill Kokos orchestra, Saturday, March 22

Your university ballroom dance club is invited to a dance on Saturday, March
22. Through a special arrangement with the Moonlight Dance Society of
Southern Illinois, the Southern Illinois University Ballroom Dance Club is
able to invite members of other college/university clubs in the area FREE OF
CHARGE. That's right, you get in for **FREE**.

The only catch is that we have to limit each club to sending six members,
and you'll need to show a student I.D. to be admitted.

The dance will be held at the SIU Student Center ballrooms, in Carbondale,
from 8-11 p.m. The Bill Kokos orchestra, a big band from Chicago, will be
providing the music. The organizers have decided to make this a "black tie
optional" event, but if guys wear a nice shirt and pants and ladies wear a
dress or skirt and blouse you'll be fine -- or feel free to dress up as much
as you want. The Student Center ballrooms have large hardwood floors that
are great for dancing!

DIRECTIONS:

>From the north or east: Take I-57 South to Marion, exit at Rt. 13 and go
West to Carbondale (about 13 miles).

>From the west: Take I-64 to exit 50 (Nashville, IL) and take Rt. 127 South
to Murphysboro. At Murphysboro, get on Rt. 13 and go East to Carbondale
(about 5 miles).

In Carbondale: From Rt. 13, get on Rt. 51 South (University Ave.).
Continue until you see the university on your right. Pass Grand Ave.
(four-lane street to the left). At the next light, turn right and follow
the drive around to the Student Center (brick building on right, close to
drive). There's guest parking across the street next to the stadium (yes,
believe it or not, that's our stadium). Ballrooms are up the steps and to
the left.

**Be sure to bring your student I.D. so you can be admitted as our guest**

QUESTIONS?:
call our club president, Linda Ober, at 618-893-4029

Hope to see you there!

Friday nights, 8:00-11:00pm (and a Salsa dance every Friday
from 11:30pm - 2:00am). The Regent Ballroom is located at
1406 Regency Drive W., Savoy. It is on the Yellow MTD bus route.
>From Champaign, take S. Neil St., which becomes U.S. 45, to Burwash Ave.
(The northwest corner of U.S. 45 and Burwash has a car dealership, Twin
City Honda; the southwest corner has a gas station.) Turn west onto
Burwash, immediately north of the Savoy 14 cinemas, then drive several
blocks to turn south onto Regency Drive West. The Regent is less than a
block south, on the east side of Regency Drive West. Free parking.

(*) Ballroom Tea Dances at The Lafayette Club:
DJ dances: 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month, 3-6pm, $4 admission.
Call to verify schedule.
The Lafayette Club, 107 E. Lafayette, Bloomington. Enormous dance floor,
tablecloths, chandeliers, real cushioned chairs, a bar, great ballroom
music, a quality sound system, and a tasteful light system. It's a 50
minute drive from C-U; take I-74 to Business 51 North. Cross under the 55
overpass, and pull into their huge parking lot on your right. (309)
828-1212.

(*) Top of the Levee Dance Studio at 204 1/2 W. Washington in Monticello
(762-7474) has a dance about once a month. Dances are on Saturdays, 8-11
with a $6 admission. There are lots of mirrors, good floor and sound
system. It is upstairs in an old building with lovely tin ceilings and
walls. There are pillars to navigate around (as in 314 Illini Union) and
only benches to sit on in the actual studio, but there is a meeting room
down the hall with tables and chairs. You will recognize many of our
friends from the Regent there.
