(*) The Tango Society presents Argentine Tango, 11/4, Bloomington, IL
Great News: You no longer have to keep secret your tango obsession.
Why not join The Tango Society and enjoy authentic Argentine tango with
the rest of us fanatics?
The Tango Society is dedicated to the enjoyment of Argentine tango. Our
goal is to organize several dance events in Bloomington where we will
dance tango, tango, and nothing but tango. And you can forget about
hearing "Fernando's Hideaway"; we play only recordings of the great
tango legends: Canaro, Pugliese, Troilo, DiSarli, Firpo, DeCaro, etc.
Never danced anything since the Hokey Pokey? No problem. We'll teach you
a few easy figures from tango de salon and you'll begin to dance a very
elegant tango.
The Tango Society, established on October 1st, is poised to launch a
unique and exciting movement that will capture the hearts of romantics
and dance enthusiasts in Central Illinois through the enjoyment of
Argentine tango. Virtually unknown in this area until now, Argentine
tango is a dance unmistakable in its ability to convey passion with
dramatic elegance and sophistication. Its lush melodies and sensuous
movements ignite irresistible desires to dance it. Fiery in its
temperament, deft in its execution, authentic Argentine tango is a dance
for mature couples who enjoy its challenge and diversity. For many,
tango eventually becomes more than merely a dance; it becomes an
obsession.
The Tango Society will offer a variety of tango-related experiences
ranging from formal tango dance events and dance instruction to cultural
explorations into tango's history and music. The Tango Society's web
site (http://homepage.dave-world.net/~chitiger/tango.htm) on the
internet is open to visiting cybersurfers interested in tango, while a
tango newsletter is on the horizon for those not yet plugged into the
world wide web.
Scheduled for November 4th is an introduction to Argentine tango basic
dance lesson to be held from 7:00-8:30 P.M. at The LaFayette Club
ballroom, 107 E. LaFayette St. in Bloomington. Call (309) 829-5529 or
E-Mail chitiger@dave-world.net for further information. Anyone
mentioning Macarena will immediately be sent to recapture the Malvinas
(Falklands).
Tangazos,
Tomas Ronquillo (chitiger@dave-world.net)
