voted on at this meeting.
-Secretary: (absent due to illness)
Paperwork is in process to renew the Dancing
Illini's registered organization status.
Proposals for SORF funds are in process.
-Public Relations: Fliers have been posted on the Quad,
at Bevier, and Busey-Evans.
An advertisement for classes is running in
the _Daily_Illini_ through Sept. 19.
-Social: Room reservations have been expanded for the
October 6 dance (two Illini Rooms rather
than just one).
A Nightclub Two-Step quickie is scheduled for
the October 6 dance.
Having tables around the edge of the room
rather than just chairs against the wall
worked well at the last two dances.
There will no longer be breaks in the middle
of DI dances.
-Education: Everyone is encouraged to come to help out
with the beginner classes; espescially at
the first meeting of each class
(September 12 and 17).
Amy Berger would like to meet with people
intending to help with the Thursday night
Beginner "B" classes at 5:45 on Sept. 12.
There is now a second microphone headset to
facillitate team teaching.
The storage cabinet has been moved to Freer.

*On September 21, there will be a Country/Western dance in the Union.
It is sponsored by: the Dancing Illini and the Illini Union Board
Student Dances Committee,
Together, we are also scheduling another dance for mid-November.

*A motion was proposed to elect Scott "Chowderhead of the Day."
The motion passed by acclamation.

*Congratulations are due to Derek and Tanja for the last two
dances; both were well-planned and excellently run.

*More "hosts" are needed for the upcoming dances. Sheena is
looking into making buttons. Stu encourages members to be more
outgoing in meeting new dancers.

*Stuff that needs to get done (aka job openings):
-Workshop Chair: Pauline Fijalkiewicz and Joanna Lipinski were
nominated as co-workshop chairpersons. The nomination was seconded.
Mark said they could act as acting WS Chairpersons until the
election at next month's meeting.
-Illini Union Board Dance Committee: The DI are looking to fill
this committee with our people; Mark and Derek have already
worked with them, and would like to encourage more people
to participate. Pauline expressed interest.
-The Illini Union Courtyard (a separate entity) is also organizing
dances in the Courtyard. People are needed to help organize
theme dances.

*Formation team news:
-The Salsa team is up and running; they are already well-organized.
-The Swing team has many people interested in participating, but
no one has yet volunteered to help organize/lead it.

*The email list is growing rapidly; an estimated 190 people are
currently subscribed to the "official" list.

*The meeting was adjourned at 10:50.

Respectfully submitted,
J. Williams
