Fall competitions: November 9th, Iowa State,
    November 16th purdue,
November 23-24 Ohio Star Ball, 2002 Collegiate National Championships.

We have designated di funds and applied for sorf money, so some or all of
transportation, lodging and registration fee will be covered by the club.
You have to feed and clothe yourself though.

e-mail me (jeffrey@isp.nwu.edu) if you think you might like to attend any
of these events so I can start to get a rough count.

This competition will be very similar to ours. In other words a lot of
fun, at a good difficulty level for the majority of our competitors and
with lots of that nightclub dancing we love. Start finding partners NOW
and let me know tentatively if you intend to compete. It's coming up
quickly. Chris Martin will be giving workshops on Sunday. We will probably
be able to have two groups of drivers depending if people want to stay
there or if they want to get there and back asap.

    Purdue Ballroom Classic, November 16th.

A good comp to go to if you are serious about competition. Many of the top
Midwest teams will be there. They will probably have a newcomer division.
Also, they will have workshops during the breaks on Saturday. This comp
    will be a day tripper.

Ohio Star Ball, Columbus, OHIO SATURDAY/SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 23-24, 2002

The big one. 2002 National Collegiate Championships. The top teams in the
country. Even newcomer division is big.. 30+ couples in each event, with
even more in bronze. Getting one callback is something to be proud
of, but start practicing now. Though even if you don't plan on practicing,
this is a great comp to go to, because it is the most important ballroom
event on the continent. Friday night, student competitors will get tickets
to see the professional finals. Championship level amateurs including
several Dancing Illini alums will be competing at a national level. The
collegiate social dance is probably the best one you'll find all year,
anywhere. Seeing good collegiate ballroom dancers will inspire you to
get better. Plus, we'll be staying at my house, with all the amenities.
