Computational Biophysics Workshop at Urbana

Beckman Institute
University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
April 17-21, 2017

The Center held a five-day workshop on Computational Biophysics at the Beckman Institute in Urbana, IL. The 30 participants were introduced to a range of topics related to molecular dynamics simulations and biomolecular visualization and received instruction in the use of NAMD, VMD, QwikMD, ffTK, and Lattice Microbes. Notably, the workshop participants were able to take advantage of the computing power provided by the Amazon Web Services (AWS) to follow the tutorials on the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) instances. The workshop featured live-demos presentation for image rendering in VMD, as well as a showcase of VMD's capability to produce 3D-immersive movies, with the participants enjoying a private "molecular virtual reality tour".
