The evaltcl method provides access to the main VMD Tcl interpreter from Python. It takes a string with Tcl commands as an argument and evaluates it. Its main purpose is to provide the Python interpreter with access to functionality that is only available from Tcl and for which no equivalent implementation yet exists in Python, for example the Tcl based plugins.
