Just do a tar xvf on the NAMD_Git-2018-12-04_Linux-x86_
64-multicore-CUDA.tar.gz
It's not compressed and only a tar archive.
file NAMD_Git-2018-12-04_Linux-x86_64-multicore-CUDA.tar.gz
