Downloads are .tar files but have .tar.gz extension

Hello,

Sorry for this silly remark: when I download NAMD or VMD, I get a file with
the extension .tar.gz file, which is actually a tar file. It is not
gzipped, despite the extension. (I guess the problem is not on my side but
rather something on the file server.) Could someone take a look at this?
