try looking for catdcd. I think the usual intention of it is to
concatenate (join) DCD files together, but it may be able to do the
opposite also. That seems like an unreasonably large file, how often were
you writing out frames? Also, was the output binary, because they will
generally cut the file size in half (which would still leave you with a
memory problem in this case, but is generally helpful).
