Dear NAMD Listserv,
The network administrator in my lab is trying to install NAMD 2.6 from
source code on to our cluster (architecture Linux-i686) and when we
unpack the source code, charm-5.9.tar does not appear. More
information on the problem and my questions (highlighted with **)
follow.
He is following instructions included in notes.txt, which I believe
are the same as those available here:
http://www.ks.uiuc.edu/Research/namd/2.6/notes.html
He following these steps:
Unpack NAMD and matching Charm++ source code and enter directory:
tar xzf NAMD_2.6_Source.tar.gz
cd NAMD_2.6_Source
tar xf charm-5.9.tar
cd charm-5.9
After unpacking NAMD, there is no charm-5.9.tar!! The following is a
list of the files found in the NAMD_2.6_Source directory:
[root_at_mc-test-cluster NAMD_2.6_Linux-i686]# ls -al

** When I installed the same release on my personal computer, I did
have a charm-5.9.tar file. Does the fact that this is being installed
on multiple processors affect the files the tar ball unpacks? I would
expect not.
** If not, has anyone encountered this problem before? Any
recommendations? Is there a better set of instructions that we could
be following?
** Since charmrum is already included, does it not need to be built?
As always, I would appreciate any guidance that the NAMD community can
provide. Please contact me if I can provide additional information.
Thank you.
Audrey
