tracing not available with CMK_OPTIMIZE

I'm trying to get my "feet wet" with NAMD by running a sim with unbound CO
in a protein pocket. However after some steps in the optimization process
I keep receiving this error message:

!!!! Warning: tracing not available with CMK_OPTIMIZE!

I've tried running the job with +checksums but the output file states that
this is ignored in the optimized version. Is this error due to an error
that occurred during the installation of NAMD? Any info regarding this
message is greatly appreciated.
